About the Illustrator
Jose Gascon started his artistic career in 1980 working as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. In 1989 upon graduating from The Center of Image and Sound in Barcelona, he joined one of Spain’s largest animation companies, where he worked and continued training with former animation directors from Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera, Universal, and DePatie-Freeling studios, like master animator Mr. Arthur Leonardi (The Pink Panther Show), Cathy Castillo, and Chunk Jones’ pupil Mr.Terry Lennon.
In 1997, Jose moved to Asia where he joined the staff of Animation Enterprises Hong Kong Ltd and Agogo Corporation working as Art Director and Animation Supervisor. The company has studios in different cities of the Southeast coast of China including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Quangzhou, Shenzhen, Bejing and Nanjing, city in which he was training layout and pre-production teams for over three years.
After seven years in Asia, Jose moved to Toronto, Canada, where he has been serving as adjunct faculty in the illustration and animation programs of different institutions like The Art Institute of Toronto, Kennedy College of Technology, and Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art and Design.
